Throughout 2015, Rich Mix is looking for new/emerging performers and companies to come and tell their stories of city life, to present just some of the small tales that contribute to the rich tapestry of the big city.
Your stories will be funny, poignant, hidden, silly and sad. They’re tiny, they’re personal, but they are somehow essential. Without them the city becomes that little bit smaller.
Rich Mix is located in the heart of East London, one of the most diverse and exciting parts of this particular city, and they’re seeking submissions for theatre and performance work that encapsulates the smallness and the bigness of city life. These showcases will happen once a month, mainly in their studio theatre, though they are happy to receive submissions that respond to other spaces within the Rich Mix building and working across multiple art-forms.
Performances will take place once a month, on either a Friday or Saturday evening, starting January 2015. Please be aware that there will be no Small Story / Big City Showcase in August or December.
In order for your work to be considered, you must have been working in live performance for 4 years or less. Work must be no longer than 90 minutes (excluding interval), however shorter works to be presented as part of a double or triple bill will be considered. Those with work in development or new writing are also encouraged to apply – the opportunity is open to those at the very early stages of development, as well as those with completed works.

The deadline for submissions is strictly 9am, Monday 20 October.
Your submission will be reviewed by a professional panel headed by Oliver Carruthers – Rich Mix’s Head of Programming; he will be joined by a selection of leading arts practitioners from across London.
Please note that it will not be possible to provide personal feedback for every submission received.
