Transports
In the late seventies a sociopathic fifteen year old finds herself shunted into her final foster home. Her widowed foster mother has a hint of a foreign accent, verbal diarrhoea and a trunk full of secrets. As youth plays cat and mouse with age, two parallel sets of revelations collide with devastating consequences.
Premiered to critical acclaim in Pipeline Theatre’s native Cornwall, TRANSPORTS moves between the 1970s and the Second World War in a funny, moving and unforgettable journey.
Inspired by the experiences of designer Alan Munden’s mother, who came to England during the war, the production weaves together two razor-sharp performances with video, a sumptuously evocative underscore and a striking stage design of two, monolithic, life-size, vertical railway tracks.
