A number of world premiers and exclusives have been announced at this year’s Norwich and Norfolk Festival.

The festival runs from May 8 to May 24 in East Anglia, to an estimated audience of around 75,000 people.

William Galinsky, Artistic Director of the Norwich and Norfolk Festival said: “We are pretty darn excited!

“We are becoming more about work we have produced and continue to.

“We have been working on some projects for three years in this festival.

“Manchester, Brighton and London Festivals don’t have such a connection to the countryside like we do. So, we have a lot of theatre with the surrounding countryside.

Exclusives at the festival include X TNT’s Dedriving Code, Richard DeDomenici’s Redux project, and Willi Dorner’s Fitting.

Another festival exclusive come from WildWorks, who present an interactive, site specific performance, made for the Norwich and Norfolk Festival.

Bill Mitchell, director at WildWorks who are performing the interactive theatre piece Wolf’s Child, said: “We are based in Cornwall, but I work everywhere, all over the world. But there is something about Norfolk that fitted the piece.

“With this piece, it worked to make something about the woods, and all those things that hide in the woods.

“Norfolk has a lot of woods! We work with a lot of local people, from woodworkers to students.”

Other genres in the festival include music, theatre, literature, visual arts, circus, dance and outdoor arts.

Tours coming to the festival include Kim Noble’s You’re Not Alone, and Luke Wright’s Stay at Home Dandy.

Green Party MP Caroline Lucas will also speak at the festival, as part of the literature line up.

Councillor Brenda Arthur, leader Norwich City Council said: “Norwich City Council believes culture and the arts make a huge contribution to the vibrancy of our city; as well as offering inspiration to those who take part.

“As Norwich’s national and international reputation as a city of culture continues to grow, more and more visitors are attracted here each year.

“We are pleased to be able to support the 2015 Festival, not just because it is good for business, but also so that Norwich residents can participate in and enjoy more free events.”

The festival is funded by donations, Norwich City Council and Arts Council England.
