One of the biggest arts and music festivals in the country have announced new additions to their theatre and dance stages.

Latitude Festival has announced a number of new theatre, dance, and comedy shows, for the event that takes place in Suffolk from July 16 to July 19.

A statement from the festival said: “With no fewer than ten arts arenas, stages and spaces boasting the biggest names in comedy, theatre, dance, film, cabaret, literature and performance, Latitude is proud to offer its guests a spectacular choice of distinguished shows, star acts and innovative site-specific commissioned pieces.”

New acts confirmed for the Theatre Arena include Sadler’s Wells dance company performing Titanium, which is a flamenco, hip-hop and breakdance show.

The festival will also see a new play written by Tony Award-winning Eve Ensler, Avocado, which will be presented by The West Yorkshire Playhouse.

As well as that, Yann Allsopp & Company are presenting a new show specifically for the 10th anniversary of Latitude, titled It Can Be Your Birthday Too.

That show gives each audience member at a time to have their very own birthday party.

Tania Harrison, Curator of the Arts Arenas at Latitude, said: “I’ve tried to look for something for everyone; across all scales of show, ages and ideas.

“There is something exciting happening in every nook and cranny of the festival this year.

“We are excited to be supporting a wealth of new talent across the festival.

“We are thrilled to be presenting a line up befitting of our 10th anniversary – it’s set to be quite the Birthday Weekend!”

Other high profile additions include Andrew Maxwell, Russell Kane and Jason Byrne to the Comedy Stage, and acts including Frank Turner to the Literary and Poetry arena.

More acts in the Literary Arena have also been announced, including Matt Haig and Hanif Kureishi.
