The competition:
Glyn Maxwell has set a special challenge for readers of A Younger Theatre and the Young Poets Network. AYT’s readers will be familiar with the idea of a monologue – some of you may even be trying to choose one for auditions right now! Many poets write dramatic monologues, where they put themselves in someone else’s shoes, just like an actor.
What we want you to do is have a go at writing your own monologue, for any voice or person that inspires you.

How to enter:
Now, following Glyn’s brilliant advice and letting your imaginations run wild, write a dramatic monologue, as a poem or play extract, from the point of view of a character speaking to an audience (no more than 30 lines, please). A selection of
Once you have written your monologue copy it into the body of an email with your name and age underneath. The closing date is 16 January 2012.
Glyn’s favourites will be published on both websites, and he will pick the best to receive a fabulous joint prize that combines poetry and theatre!
