One Take Shakespeare is a new competition for young women aged between 13 and 18, run by the Donmar Warehouse, one of the UK’s leading producing theatres.
Alongside our all-female production of HENRY IV, we want to challenge young women across the country to make Shakespeare their own by recording themselves performing a speech from one of his plays, written for a male character.
Ninety seconds, no props, no special effects – just you, a camera, and the world’s greatest playwright. You can record your speech in your bedroom, in the car, at school or in the park – wherever you want. This is your chance to be the King of Scotland or the Prince of Denmark, a local drunk, a mighty warrior or a hopeless romantic. Even if you have never attempted to say a Shakespeare speech out loud before, give it a try!
All entries will be judged by a panel from the Donmar Warehouse, and two winners will be given tickets to see the sold out production of CITY OF ANGELS at the Donmar Warehouse and a night’s stay at a top London hotel.
