A Younger Theatre is always looking for writers to contribute to our growing website. All writing roles are on a voluntary basis. AYT has historically been London-centric, but we’re actively looking for writers beyond London to expand our coverage. We are currently looking for writers and reviewers in Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds. We are also keen to ensure that our writing team is representative of the society that we live in and so, we particularly welcome applications from people of colour, people with disabilities and the LGBTQ+ community.


Marketing and Advertising Officer

AYT is seeking to appoint a Marketing and Advertising Officer to support the publication on growing our readership, working closely with the Editor and our advertising clients. Building our social media strategy and return visits to our website will be a crucial part of this role. This is a freelance flexible position, and will suit someone looking to expand on their marketing and communication skills, with a love of theatre and writing.

AYT is seeking a Sub-Editor who will edit and contribute to the reviews section of the publication. Working closely with the Editor and Reviews Co-Ordinator, the Sub-Editor will have an eye for detail, a love of the English language, and be great with a style guide.

Young Journalists

Our Young Journalists scheme is designed to give young people with an active interest in arts journalism the chance to develop their interests and be published by A Younger Theatre. Working closely with the Editor, you will research, conduct interviews and write featured material for the AYT website.

AYT seeks both long-term bloggers and writers for one-off opinion pieces. Working with the Editor, writers are encouraged to develop a theme through their blogs, acting as opinion pieces and commentary on theatre and the arts. Blogs are designed to encourage discussion for readers.

AYT actively seeks young writers to develop their critical skills through attending press nights for shows. The majority of these shows are within London however we are actively looking for reviewers across the UK.
