James Brining is Artistic Director of West Yorkshire Playhouse, where he has directed The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, The Crucible, Enjoy, Talking Heads and Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which was nominated for Best Musical in the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards and which he is restaging for WNO at Wales Millennium Centre and on tour. In December he will direct Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which opens at the Playhouse before touring the UK in 2016
