The Coronation of Poppea by Monteverdi
An opera about the Roman Emperor Nero and his fiery affair with beautiful Poppea, where lust and ambition triumph – very seductively – over virtue and reason.
Jason by Cavalli
The hero of the Golden Fleece forgets his wife, shirks his responsibilities and strikes up a relationship with a beautiful, mysterious queen. A great comic opera with beautiful moments, slapstick gags and bawdy humour.
Agrippina by Handel
Features the same real-life characters as The Coronation of Poppea, but realised as a rip-roaring comedy. This production is very glamorous, with big wigs and stylish costumes.
