Erica’s bored. She used to go on research trips to the Congo, now all she has is Woman’s Hour, Waitrose and wearisome dinner parties. Then one morning she discovers Nadine, her daughter’s new and only friend sitting in the kitchen and life gets interesting.
But after taking Nadine under her wing, Erica soon finds the lines of parental responsibility start to blur and as the stakes for her attention rise, it’s clear that someone is going to get hurt.
Written by Suhayla El-Bushra (Pigeons, Royal Court) and directed by Nathan Curry (Artistic Director, Tangled Feet), Cuckoo is the Unicorn’s second production for adults following the success of the award-winning and critically acclaimed Monkey Bars in 2012.
Cuckoo is the first Unicorn production to feature two members from our Young Company who will be making their professional debut alongside actor, Sarah Malin.
