Get £10 tickets to see The Seven Acts of Mercy

The Seven Acts of Mercy | Until 10 February | Swan Theatre

The Seven Acts of Mercy is the latest play from radical playwright Anders Lustgarten (winner of the inaugural Harold Pinter Playwright’s Award for If You Don’t Let Us Dream We Won’t Let You Sleep at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs). This powerful new story confronts the dangerous necessity of compassion, in a world where it is in short supply.

Playing out across 400 years, between Naples 1606, where painter Caravaggio is creating his masterpiece The Seven Acts of Mercy; and Bootle, 2016 where a retired union leader uses Caravaggio’s art to teach his grandson about the tragedy and beauty of the life he faces in a community which is disintegrating under the pressure of years of economic and political degradation.
