A Younger Theatre is looking for reviewers for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival as part of our Edinburgh Young Critics Scheme. This is the fourth year we have run the scheme which offers budding reviewers the opportunity to review at the largest arts festivals in the world.
We’re looking for six writers between the ages of 18-30 who have a commitment to writing about theatre in the future either as a critic or an arts journalist. The chosen writers will be expected to review a fair amount of shows each day (we normally average at 5 or 6 per person) and meet daily copy deadlines. The Fringe and Festival are extremely busy and hectic, so you’ll have to be good at working under pressure and writing quickly and concisely.
Chosen writers will receive:
– FREE accommodation in the AYT flat for a week.
– A contribution towards travel (train or bus).
– Mentoring by professional critics.
– Press accreditation for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival.
– Passes to C venues including access to the AYT office
We’re committed to providing the best opportunity for budding writers. This is the first year we are funding the scheme without external support so unfortunately we can not offer payment for the writers attending the festival.
