Noonday Demons at King’s Head Theatre

Rough Haired Pointer presents Noonday Demons by Peter Barnes, author of The Ruling Class, in its first major revival since 1969. Living alone in the desert, hermit St. Eusebius has survived on black olives, dirty water and a whole lot of self-righteousness. Enter St. Pior claiming God has sent him to evict Eusebius and take over his cave.

*A righside bell clangs to signal the beginning of the fight*

A battle staged as a bizarre wrestling match over who is the most wholly holy. Slapstick, music-hall ventriloquism, crude jokes, songs and dance, levitation, religious fervour, a pile of human excrement and a great deal of violence are thrown together to create this anarchic comedy that demands to be taken seriously.
