An Instinct for Kindness
by Chris Larner
Pleasance Theatre, Islington
20 – 24 March
In November 2010, Chris Larner accompanied his chronically ill ex-wife to Dignitas in Switzerland. He returned home with an empty wheelchair and a story to tell.
Powerfully moving and gripping, Larner’s show is by turns funny and heart-rending. His brilliant script and performance draw us inexorably into the haunting, humanstory of a woman making the ultimate decision about her own life.

We love a bit of Site Specific theatre and we love to give you a good ticket offer which is why we are offering you £10 tickets to see Project Colony; a site specific spectacle at Trinity Buoy Wharf. Performed in one of London’s most atmospheric dock side spaces, Project Colony promises to be a unique and commanding theatrical experience, inviting the audience to become part of the action, as colony inspectors…fascinating! See below for a bit more info or scroll down to claim the offer.

Fourth Monkey Theatre Present
Project Colony
Triniry Buoy Wharf, 64 Orchard Place, London
2 – 27 April 7.30pm (matinees on Thurs & Sat 3pm)
Project Colony is a twist on Franz Kafka’s In the Penal Colony, and has a 52 strong ensemble cast who will deliver this site specific spectacle at Trinity Buoy Wharf on the banks of the river Thames.
Written and Directed by Hamish MacDougall and James Yeatman this striking, immersive project, based on the existentialist writer’s original short story, has been conceived by two young directors who last collaborated as assistant and associate directors respectively on Complicite’s Master and Margarita at the Barbican.
A much anticipated follow up to the company’s staging of Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012, the audience meets at a designated pick up point to partake in this unusual twist on the story of an elaborate torture and execution device. They are then escorted to a 1950s era colonised holiday camp where a travelling salesman has been invited to witness the execution of a condemned prisoner on a tropical island by the machine. Kafka’s story is a complex hall of mirrors. Is this a brutal murder or a sacred tradition that’s being eroded by modernity? When is it right to step in? As two children mourn their father a society hangs in the balance; they wait on the word of a foreigner to decide their fate.
