A Younger Theatre is proud to announce a media partnership with TheatreCraft 2012. Now in its 7th year, TheatreCraft offers young people aged 17 to 25 who are interested in non-performance careers in theatre the opportunity to learn, through workshops and professional development. The day-long event takes place at the Royal Opera House on Friday 30th November and will give participants the chance to explore topics including producing, stage management, wig-making, lighting, marketing, theatre journalism and much more.

1,000 young people from across the UK are expected to attend TheatreCraft 2012 from 9am – 3.30pm. With over 60 workshops to choose from delivered by industry professionals, and the opportunity to meet 40 exhibitors in the TheatreCraft marketplace (including an ‘Ask the Experts’ zone offering one-on-one advice), this year’s TheatreCraft will be the biggest to date.

Opening the event will be Michael Grandage CBE, whose lengthy career includes ten years as artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse and whose newly founded company, the Michael Grandage Company, will play a season of shows in the West End later this year. When it was announced that he would be opening TheatreCraft 2012 Grandage said: “TheatreCraft is the unmissable event that every young person interested in exploring a career in the theatre should attend. It will equip them with the necessary information to make educated career choices and ensures that theatre in this country continues to have a robust future under the next generation of rising talent.”

As part of A Younger Theatre’s media partnership, we will shortly be accepting applications to document the day in our Live Blogging role, working with AYT Scotland Editor and Digital Associate of the National Theatre of Scotland, Eve Nicol.

TheatreCraft is organised by Creative and Cultural Skills, Mousetrap Theatre Projects, the Royal Opera House, Society of London Theatre and Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust.
